A portfolio of drawings

Every portfolio of illustrations is as different as the event it records.

Below is an example of a complete set of wedding drawings, from the Bride getting ready until the dancing at the end of the day.
A unique collection of illustrations capturing your special day.

How does it work?

The portfolio will include sketches from each moment of the day, usually from the ceremony onwards but sometimes my day begins with the bridal party getting ready.
This is my first opportunity to meet the Bride and I love being swept up in the excitement and anticipation of the day ahead.

Very occasionally the preparations, ceremony and venue are close together which allows for other details such as floral displays, surroundings and even the Groom and Ushers’ breakfast!

I then speed over to where the ceremony is being held to draw the guests looking forward to the betrothed’s arrival.
And the moment arrives…
I draw the ceremony, vows and readings; easily the most emotional part of the day (along with the speeches).

The reception is the part of the day where everyone relaxes – speech-makers aside!
Typically I draw the wedding breakfast, speeches, cake cutting, first dance and musicians, finishing with everyone up and dancing!

I usually draw for 8-12 hours on the day of the event and complete the drawings with colour and lettering over the following week or so.
Along with a frontispiece recording the names of the couple, location and date there will be 15-20 sheets of A3 illustrations presented loose-leaf in a handmade portfolio to match the wedding colour scheme.

“We loved seeing your images of the day. We have seen a lot of
photographs now, but the drawings are something completely different.
You have caught all the colours and
atmosphere so well, both in the pictures and the words.”
